Spring Awakenings

It is hard to believe with the dreary weather and snow today that spring is only 14 days away! I am ready for the emergence of new life and the carefree beauty of the outdoors that comes with this time of year. Along with the arrival of spring, I have plans for a fresh start in my photography business. Several people have asked me recently why I haven’t been blogging so I thought I’d give a quick update. I’ve been very busy this winter working on some exciting ideas that I will be sharing soon on my newly designed website and blog. For those of you who have not heard, I now live in St. Charles and will be staying in the area. I really have spring fever right now and cannot wait to get back outdoors for more sessions.

Here are a few reminders from last spring to “warm” you up on this cold winter’s day.

Where man sees but withered leaves,

I absolutely love working with Amanda at weddings and getting the chance to photograph her with her beautiful family was even more fun! We met at their new home and captured some great memories of this important time in their lives. I can’t wait to help her put together a canvas wall display for her new home! I love this shot of Francesca because she was just having so much fun. It was a blast to watch her go through her dance routines to pick my favorite poses for her dance shots. Francesca is a dancer at Charmette Academy of Dance and obviously loves to dance!

These images will be even more precious someday because they include a special childhood memory, her favorite teddy bear.

I even got to try out my new chalk board background for the first time – fun!!!

Inertia, The School of Dance | Dance Photographer

I always love to work with dancers and the group from Inertia, The School of Dance was awesome! Our photo shoot in Old Town St. Charles was a huge success despite the problems with parking and a few raindrops here and there. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day.

Thank you to the helpful dad who got the girls up and down safely – I love this shot!!!

It was actually raining when we photographed this group. I was so impressed how patient everyone was waiting under umbrellas. The little ones even held umbrellas over my head to keep my camera drop – what a bunch of cuties!

Fortunately, the rain was not bad and did not last long. With the cooperation of wonderful parents, teachers and dancers we finished on time and just minutes before a huge thunderstorm passed through.

This Tuesday finds me reflecting on all the reasons why I feel lucky to love pursuing my own business.

I love to be challenged; it forces me to grow in what I am passionate about. I love to connect with my clients, the way I want to connect with them. I love to give back to the community and devote extra time to organizations I believe in. I love the feeling of pride that overwhelms me when I’ve created something on my own. I love that I can find time for a work/life balance, and when my life needs me to take a break from work, my work allows me this opportunity.

Much of last week and the rest of this week, I will be devoting some time to my parents. I am certainly thankful that when they need me, I can be there for them. With that said, I don’t have much business to blog about this week. However, I would like to take the opportunity to offer a FUN promotion.
