I absolutely love working with Amanda at weddings and getting the chance to photograph her with her beautiful family was even more fun! We met at their new home and captured some great memories of this important time in their lives. I can’t wait to help her put together a canvas wall display for her new home! We’ll post a picture when it’s finished. For now, here are a few of my personal favorites.

Francesca | St. Louis Child PhotographerJune 23rd, 2012I love this shot of Francesca because she was just having so much fun. It was a blast to watch her go through her dance routines to pick my favorite poses for her dance shots. Francesca is a dancer at Charmette Academy of Dance and obviously loves to dance! These images will be even more precious someday because they include a special childhood memory, her favorite teddy bear. I even got to try out my new chalk board background for the first time – fun!!! Thanks Francesca for being such a joy to work with!

Tuesday Blog | St. Peters PhotographerMarch 28th, 2012My Tuesday Blog was ready to go on Tuesday, but my internet went out again before I could get it posted. Someone came out and ran a new cable for me yesterday and my internet is now working better than it has in months – yeah! So . . . Here’s Tuesday’s blog ~ on Wednesday. Last week brought me tons to be excited about! Sure makes for easy Tuesday blogging!
Early on in the week, the weather held off just long enough for me to get some of the shots I needed with 18 month old Claire. The damp day wasn’t favorable for her Easter frills, but it really turned into such a fun session. Although Claire didn’t want to sit long, she became very attached to one of my little chairs. So much so, that she wanted to drag it into every shot. She was very precious dressed in her purple and white Easter dress. When the rain broke for a short time, we ventured outdoors and captured some perfect moments near my purple tulips surrounded by trees in full bloom. The purple was perfect!
What a blast I had on Sunday shooting my Senior ROLE MODEL’s. The kids did a great job helping me create a fun concept and I absolutely loved every look that hair and makeup stylists Marla Lebish (hair) and D’Shannon Llewellyn (makeup) created. It was certainly a day full of excitement with music, snacks, props, blue skies, sunshine and smiles. I even got to try out some of my new equipment on these soon-to-be seniors. It was a long, but fun day and I can’t wait to share the amazing shots and video coverage from this fun session. Tip of the week: This week’s tip, isn’t really a tip. Rather, an offer for a cool new find. If you have an iphone4, I can make personalized cases with a favorite photo from a past or upcoming session. The cost is $35. Contact me for more details. Until Next Tuesday! ~Cathy |

The forecast of rain most days left me feeling uncertain of the ability to capture what I was hoping to with my clients. Turns out, even though the forecast was dreary, the off and on cooperating weather had me excited and seizing opportunities as they came.

I was happy to meet another busy little guy later in the week on Friday during his mother’s maternity shoot. Two year old Avery was not really interested in the photo shoot with mom and dad, but was willing to let me snap a few quick shots of him. Just adorable!! Little ones always bring such innocence, honesty and laughter to the lens. I am always thrilled with the images I get from their shoots and even more so when the weather doesn’t get in the way of my plans.
On Saturday, the weather threatened an engagement session with Abby and Ben scheduled in Forest Park. The forecast wasn’t promising for the evening so we opted to move the session up a few hours although still concerned that the rain may put a damper on the session all together. I don’t think any of us were real excited about getting caught in a storm in the middle of the park. All three of us appreciated the weather cooperating and allowing this beautiful session to continue as planned.

Special thanks this week to SNL Painting for transforming the walls of my front showroom into a shimmering shade of gold. Looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing the room come to life as I get everything put back together.

Happy Valentine’s DayFebruary 14th, 2012Even though it is cold and grey outside, Valentine’s Day has me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside!! Not only am I so grateful for the love of my family and dear friends, I can honestly say I LOVE what I do! Creating masterpieces for the amazing people I get to work with just warms my heart over and over again. My clients often ask me, “What do you like to photograph most?” ![]() My response, “Whatever I am photographing at the moment.” I am inspired by Life and absolutely love any moment my clients feel worthy of capturing. Let’s face it; I never get bored with all the variety Life has to offer. So far this month, I’m having the time of my life shooting precious little ones. The sweet, stillness of newborns and curious personalities of babies and toddlers are so fun to work with. I just love the creative opportunities in these shoots. I believe children in general offer such a joyful innocence to the lens.
The close of January brought a few new additions to Cathy Hartman photography. I’ve brought in some “behind the scenes” part-time help in Amy Greco! Amy is coming alongside to take care of some of the details that I don’t always have the time in my day to get to. She is currently updating some of the wording on my website, packages, programs, etc. to offer a more “creative voice.” If some of you were wondering if I’ve suddenly gained a new talent in my creative writing ability, well, that is probably Amy translating for me. I welcome Amy and look forward to the support she will offer me in the upcoming months.
Until next Tuesday, ~ Cathy |

Aside from my photo sessions, I’ve also spent time this month meeting with Brides as wedding season is just around the corner. I’m anxious to hear stories of all the Valentine’s Day proposals and hoping for warmer weather for upcoming engagement sessions ~ although I was really wishing I had one scheduled yesterday in that beautiful snowfall!

In addition, I’ve introduced a new SENIOR ROLE MODEL program that I am really excited about. I am currently accepting applications for ROLE MODELS and will continue through March 1st. Watch my blog in March as I unveil my ROLE MODELS for the 2012-2013 season.
Until next Tuesday,

McAFee Family | O’Fallon Family PhotographerJuly 28th, 2011I’ve known Brian since he was a kid playing football with our son Chad so he almost feels like one of my kids. He now has a sweetheart of a wife, Laura and two beautiful children Hagen & Addison. I loved being able to spend some time with them recently and welcome baby Addison. Congratulations to a wonderful family! Feel free to leave them a comment on the blog. Hagen is very proud to be a big brother! Amazing what a bribe from dad to go to McDonald’s will do for a smile!
Addison was determined to stay awake and not miss a moment of her first photo shoot, but we did get a few sleepy baby shots. She is just precious! Congratulations McAFee Family!

Thank Heaven For Little Girls | St. Charles Family Photographer | Hermann Family PhotographerJune 21st, 2011I had the pleasure of photographing two great families recently. The Wunderlich’s at their home near Hermann and The Bushong’s in Old Town St. Charles. Both families have two adorable little girls. The girls are all so sweet – I can’t stop smiling as I go through the photos from their sessions! Grass in your toes is the funniest thing! I’m a Little Teapot |

Holiday Photo ShootsDecember 1st, 2010One missing tree stand, one very crooked tree, several tangled strands of lights, and a lot of mess later – my house is decorated for Christmas! I have 3 sets with trees inside, plus some fun props with the white background. We can also do holiday photos outside. Bring your kids, your family, and your pets. There’s still time to do a session and get custom designed cards. |
